(Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon, Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, 2x Percussion, Harp, Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello, Bass), 17 minutes (one movement)

Commissioned by New Music Concerts, Toronto

First performed in 2011 by New Music Concerts Ensemble with Robert Aitken, flute, on 6th March at Betty Oliphant Theatre. The work is dedicated to Jonathan Harvey, whose work was the focus of this concert.

The audio clip of this unusual work is taken from near the end. The Bach chorale, towards which the music had been travelling throughout, begins to dissolve into a more cosmic musical image! The perfomers are as listed above

“It’s full of imagination and delightful structures. The rhythmic working is often intriguing. I enjoyed it and feel honoured at the dedication.”
